The Story
Why we're standing with James.
For seven years, James McPherson has shaped young lives as a primary school teacher at Law Primary School in North Berwick. Outside the classroom, he serves as a firefighter at the local fire station.
James has been diagnosed with an aggressive, stage 4 brain tumour — glioblastoma, measuring 7cm x 4cm. Without intervention, life expectancy is 12-15 months. Even with treatment there is no cure, but buying time opens the door to potential future lifesaving treatments.
James is a father to two sons and a daughter. His focus is on securing as much time as possible with them while exploring every available option.
Optune therapy is one of the most advanced glioblastoma treatments available. It is not on the NHS and costs £15,000–£20,000 per month privately. The fundraiser aims to raise an average of £17,000 per month.
Funds go directly toward consultations, treatments, travel, and associated care.
