The Story
Why we're standing with Florence.
Josh is trying to save his wife's life. Florence has a rare liver disease called PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis). Last year she was also diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma — a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer.
Over the past year Flo has endured long hospital stays, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and multiple invasive procedures, all while showing incredible strength.
A liver transplant is now Flo's only potentially curative treatment option. Because of current NHS transplant criteria, she is not eligible for a transplant in the UK.
Josh may be a suitable living donor. They will be travelling to Istanbul for urgent compatibility testing for a living donor transplant — and now have to fund this themselves.
Costs include transplant surgery, donor surgery, hospital care, travel abroad, accommodation, and post-operative treatment and recovery. Without a transplant, the only option left in the UK is palliative care.
